What is the idea behind Click2HelpAChild.com?

The idea is simple and noble: to try and raise £202,500.00 for the NSPCC and The Oxford Children's Hospital.

Why should you buy our pixels?

Because you will have an image and a link to your site on the homepage of a site that could potentially be seen by millions of people over the coming years. The site will be online for at least 5 years, that's guaranteed, but the idea is to keep it online forever. Besides, the money we earn from your advertising fees will go towards funding the projects in progress or planned by the Oxford Children’s Hospital and the Witney Community Hospital.

Who can buy pixels at Click2HelpAChild.com?

Everyone is welcome to buy these pixels, which are available in 100-pixel 'blocks' (each measuring 10x10 pixels). You will see the homepage is divided into 10,000 of these 100-pixel blocks(hence there are 1,000,000 pixels in total). The reason for selling them in 100-pixel blocks is because anything smaller would not result in any meaningful display.

As a paid advertiser, you can buy as many pixels that are available in the Premium Tier and Standard Tier. However, non-paying advertisers can use only 100 pixels at any given time for a period of one year.

Are there any restrictions in advertising products on Click2HelpAChild.com?

Yes, no obscene, offensive, smoking, alcohol images are allowed.

Where will the pixels I buy be displayed?

The pixels you buy will be displayed on the homepage permanently. The homepage will not change. Using the money we make from the site, it’s our guarantee to keep it online for at least 5 years, but hopefully much longer. So, in the long run, the pixels will offer good value.

What will you do with the money?

To begin with, Children's Hospital will get 35% and NSPCC will get 40%, and the balance 25% to cover the post and marketing.

Why you can't buy one single pixel?

The reason this is because you can't display anything meaningful in one pixel - nor click it easily - so visually, it would be pointless. With thousands of random tiny coloured dots all over the place, the homepage would look terrible.

Besides, this site would appeal more to people with businesses/websites to advertise than it would to individuals, or to put it more accurately, businesses would pay more to have a meaningful graphic on the homepage. Hence the minimum purchase is - a 10x10 block.

How long will the site be online?

Depending on the traffic, our aim is to keep the site online forever. The idea is to create something of an internet time capsule: a homepage that is unique and permanent. Everything on the internet keeps changing so fast, it will be nice to have something that stays solid and permanent and generates funds for a noble cause.

How much do I have to pay for the pixel advertising?

There are 3 tiers from which you can choose to advertise at Click2HelpAChild.com. If you choose the Premium Tier, you can buy minimum 100 pixels (10x10 pixels) for Pounds 25 (plus 17.5% VAT that you can claim as tax refund). There is no restriction on the number of such blocks you can buy, as long as it’s available on the site. This tier has the best position at the top of the homepage and will result in the maximum number of clicks for advertisers. Period of advertising is for 5 years, although we hope to keep it online forever. If you choose the Standard Tier, you can buy minimum 100 pixles (10x10 pixels) for Pounds 20 (plus 17.5% VAT that you can claim as tax refund). Again, there is no restriction on the number of such blocks you can buy, as long as it’s available on the site. This tier, occupies the next tier after the Premium Tier. Period of advertising is 5 years, although we hope to keep it online forever. The Free Tier, is the last Tier on our site. We have only 100, 000 free pixels available to advertisers. You can use only 100 pixels at any given time and the period of advertising is just one year.

What are the terms and conditions?

When you 'buy' my pixels you will not 'own' any part of the homepage or this site, but rather you are granted the right to submit an image and link which will then be published on the homepage in the respective space you have paid for.

You cannot change the image or link once you have submitted them, so you must be sure of the image & link you want on the homepage, which will be there for at least 5 years. The only exception is if you have a strong reason why you need a change to your image/link, eg. your site no longer exists, major structural change to your site, lawsuits, etc.

If your image and link are accepted and published on the homepage, you cannot get a refund.

The site and homepage will be online for at least 5 years (starting from the day it launched), so at least until July 2011, but possibly even longer (that's the aim).

No obscene/offensive/adult images/links will be accepted, and I decide what is appropriate for my site. If you submit an image or link that is rejected, you will have the opportunity to provide an alternative, otherwise your money will be refunded and you will lose your pixels.

If your link is accepted and you later change the content of the linked site to show offensive/obscene/adult material then your link will be removed until you provide a new one, and you will not get a refund of any kind for the link downtime.

If for whatever reason in the future you want your image and link removed from the homepage, you can do that, but you will not get a refund and the space will become available universally again.

Images must be the exact size you have paid for (eg. 100 pixels = 10x10 pixels).

Images must be in GIF or JPEG format, and a reasonable file size.

Images must NOT be animated (imagine how messy the homepage would look).

Links must be to web pages only and begin with http://.

You must have the authority to provide the image and link for the website you submit.

Funds must be fully received and cleared before your pixels go live on the homepage.

There might be occasional downtime for site maintenance but I'll try and keep these to a minimum.

Once you have ordered and the funds have cleared (eg. in my PayPal or bank account), I will aim to get your pixels online within 24-48hrs.
